Tony Bevan (b.1951) Head and Neck
Charcoal and acrylic on Canvas 120 x 119 cms (47¼ x 46¾ inches) 1995
Tony Bevan often draws attention to the neck and wrists and to the vulnerable male body. In this series of heads he draws paerticular attention to the neck, extending it to provide an armature for the head that recalls Francis Bacon's Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion (1944).
